About

Thank you for visiting my webpage (in the year 2024 having a web presence is surprisingly novel.) In an effort to create a digital footprint of things I am proud of, this website serves to show off my portfolio of things I am proud of. I am a graduate of biotechnology from Florida Gulf Coast University, with a focus on bioinformatics, molecular genetics and plant science. I'd like to get people excited about what I've done as part of my education with this website. In an effort to become more aqquainted with cancer biology, I have taken up a position professionally as a medical scribe for a hematologist-medical oncologist.

Senior thesis

My research has primarily focused on the expression of genes in Arabidopsis thaliana. This plant has been the topic of popular study since roughly the 1990s when biolgists realized its short generational cycle makes it ideal for studying gene expression in flowering plants. My research focused on comparitive biology of Arabidopsis with Melaleuca quinquenervia, an invasive species in Southwest Florida. In my research our lab performed GUS assay for the MADS box gene APETALA1 and its melaleuca homeolog in an arabidopsis model system. We hope to gain insight into the flowering systems in melaleuca since it grows and flowers notoriously quickly.
